The night

Bring the whole cohort.

Computer science, AI, cybersecurity, data engineering, electrical engineering — if you are studying any of it anywhere in San Antonio, this is the room. The Alamo Colleges, UTSA, St. Mary's, Trinity, Texas A&M-San Antonio, UIW. There is no home campus for this one, and no one is checking which logo is on your student ID.

The fall semester is still young, which is the point: clubs are recruiting, teams are forming, and nobody has picked their year yet. DEVSA describes itself as the bridge across San Antonio's tech ecosystem, and is careful about how — it does not replace the communities doing the work, it hosts them and connects them. There are more than twenty of those groups behind this one room.

Free, and free of the usual conditions — no badge, no pitch, no year requirement, and no need to be enrolled anywhere in particular.

Geekdom's pitch to founders is that people are the unfair advantage — that a hard problem gets easier with the right person across the table, and that person is hard to find on your own, so they built the room where they already are. That room is the third floor of the Rand, which is the floor you would be standing on. A student who finds it in their first semester has four years of it, and that is the whole reason the community floor gives an evening to people who cannot yet put Geekdom on a résumé. Nobody has to join anything to talk to anyone.

Find your people. Build your future.
