The Readiness Gap: AI, Quantum, and What Comes Next

When
Wed, Sep 30 · 11 – 11:30 AM

Janie Martinez Gonzalez has been building through technology disruption for more than three decades. She founded Webhead in San Antonio during the early internet and dot com era, when companies were still figuring out what the web would mean for business. Today, Janie is navigating another transformation with AI while helping build toward what comes next through Quantum Realm Computing, a division of Webhead focused on quantum readiness, research and applied innovation. Janie also brings a perspective that is not always found in the startup conversation. She sat on both sides of the technology table. As a founder and government technology contractor, she knows what it takes to build a company, compete for contracts and deliver inside complex organizations. As a public utility trustee with leadership experience in technology, policy and governance, she has also participated in decisions involving major technology investments, innovation, infrastructure, risk and public accountability. That experience has led her to a simple question: Are we innovating faster than we are preparing? In this keynote, Janie explores the growing readiness gap between emerging technology and the organizations, and people expected to use it. She connects AI governance, workforce readiness, GovTech procurement and the coming quantum transition to a practical question for founders: How do you get ready for the opportunity before everyone else sees it? She will share what institutional buyers are actually looking for, why trust and readiness can matter as much as innovation, and how startups can better position themselves to work with government, utilities and enterprise organizations. The technology will keep changing. The opportunity belongs to those prepared for what comes next.
