The afternoon
Open source, all afternoon.
Texas Linux Fest calls itself “the first state-wide annual community-run conference for Linux and open source software users and enthusiasts from around the Lone Star State” — running since 2010, non-profit, and built on the model SCALE and Ohio Linux Fest set: a weekend priced for a person rather than a department.
The team brings that room to The Rand for three hours. They are a DEVSA partner, which is how they land on the community floor rather than a stage.
Free with Startup + Tech Week registration, and discount codes for November’s festival are being handed out in the room.
The festival itself is November 6–7 at UT Commons in Austin — two days, forty speakers, five hundred seats, and a ticket tier called Starving Hacker, which tells you most of what you need to know about who it is for. This afternoon is the shortcut to it, and the week already has the other half of the argument: Give-a-LOT spends Monday to Wednesday rebuilding donated machines on the same software.
Bring a laptop. Or don’t — bring a question.
